Kroc Center volunteers are held to the same standards as our employees including application, background check, Child Safe training, and orientation.

Bell Ringer
Raise funds by taking part in one of The Salvation Army's traditions.  Ring a bell in downtown San Francisco to raise funds for Kroc Center programs.
Time Commitment: Saturdays in December, 11am-3pm or 3pm-7pm
Age Restrictions: 18+ or minors must be accompanied with a responsible adult

Food Delivery Driver
Drive and deliver food to underserved families and disabled seniors who are unable to obtain food due to the recent pandemic.
Time Commitment: Fridays, 8am-12pm (flexible according to volunteer availability)
Age Restrictions: 21+, must have a valid driver's license

Christmas Toy Sorting & Packing
Christmas 2021 looks a little different from past Holiday Seasons. Instead of our annual Toy & Joy shop, we are pre-selecting and packing toys for each of the families we serve in San Francisco. We need some toy-savvy Santa's Elves (aka volunteers) to help!
Time Commitment: December 14th, 9am-1pm or 12pm-4pm

Angel Tree Toy Distribution
Want to be Santa's Helper this year? Volunteer with the Salvation Army San Francisco as we distribute toys to low income families. Families will be pre-assigned a time slot/date to collect their pre-bagged toys and will arrive either by car or on foot. Volunteers are needed to assist with distribution.
Time Commitment: December 18th, 20th & 21st, 8:30am-12pm or 12:30pm-4pm

Food Pantry Helper
Pack grocery bags with food staples from the SF-Marin Food Bank and pass out grocery bags to a community in need.
Time Commitment: Fridays, 6:30am-9:30am

Thanksgiving Meal Deliveries
For over 60 years, The Salvation Army has delivered Thanksgiving meals to around 4000 homebound seniors and disabled adults. The special touch of a fresh holiday meal and a warm greeting from our volunteers will be extra special this Thanksgiving!
Time Commitment: November 25th, 6am-1pm
Age Restrictions: 18+ or minors must be accompanied with a responsible adult

How to Become a Volunteer

Becoming a volunteer is easy–start by filling out this form with your interests. Staff will provide volunteer assignment details and any additional training to all active volunteers, as necessary. Please note, the intake process can take up to one month. All applicants must be at least 16 years old.

 My favorite thing about volunteering at the Kroc Center is getting to see the impact we make on families and our community. Whether it's dropping off groceries or working with students in the Community Learning Hub, you can really see the difference it makes in their lives.
